The journey of losing Lucy – by Thay Thong Phap
26 October 2023 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Description
Lucy, Thay’s beloved dog, his companion & loyal friend, passed away peacefully in his arm on September 21. The bond between a human and a canine companion is a unique and profound connection. It transcends words, built on shared experiences, silent understanding, and the purest form of love. Lucy was not just a pet for Thay; she was family — a source of joy, comfort, and solace. As Thay cradled Lucy in his arms during her final moments, he found refuge in the teachings that guide us through the inevitable pain of losing our loved ones. Buddhism teaches us about the nature of suffering and the impermanence of life. Lucy’s departure has become a profound lesson, a reminder that life is a fleeting, fragile gift that we must cherish and appreciate. In this talk, Thay will share with you the experience of losing Lucy and all that he has learned from the whole of our lives together. There will be lots of discussion and reflection.
Please join Thay & the community for this insightful talk and meditation on Thursday 26 October, 2023 ~ 7.30pm – 9.00pm.
